I created this piece inspired by the quiet intensity and elegance of cats. There is something about the way they observe the world. Calm, alert, mysterious. That has always fascinated me.

In this 24 x 24 mixed media work, I layered reclaimed fragments, texture, and subtle tonal shifts to capture that presence. The surface carries depth and movement, sealed beneath a luminous resin finish that enhances contrast and brings light into the composition. I wanted the gaze to feel strong but gentle. Almost as if the cat is fully aware of you, yet completely in its own world.

This piece became even more meaningful when someone purchased it for his wife, who deeply loved cats but was unable to have one in her home. Knowing that this artwork would bring her that sense of connection. That quiet companionship on the wall. Made the process incredibly special to me.

For me, this is not simply a portrait. It is about longing, presence, and the emotional bond we feel with animals, even when they are not physically beside us.

Created on wood panel and finished with a high gloss resin surface, the piece is designed to anchor a space with both strength and sensitivity.
